The Hartley Cowley Clyde Property Cruise
The Clyde Property Cruise started in the late 1980's with a few surveyors deciding to host a weekend for clients to enjoy a few days in a spectacular Scottish sailing area with some very good craic and just a modest competitive element on the water.
From the early beginnings of just two or three boats, the Clyde Property Cruise is now a firm fixture on the sailing calendar and in recent years some 20 – 30 boats, filled with many of the property industry’s movers and shakers have taken part in the weekend event. The event is also an important fund raiser for RNLI.
The current format of the cruise weekend is:
Friday – yachts cruise to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute and crews mingle in the towns various hostelries and generally compete in the banter.
Saturday – race or cruise-in-company for the less competitive (read seriously hung over) from Rothesay up through the glorious Kyles of Bute to Tarbert on Loch Fynne. At Tarbert a cruise dinner is held in one of the local hotels. The dinner is also the prize giving for various awards including the main event – The Hartley Cowley Challenge Cup.
Sunday – Recovery cruise sailing back to your yacht's home port giving time to build up the enthusiasm to face a new week of work on Monday or to come up with a good excuse for taking Monday off!
